>>Cubs' Seven-Run Eighth Beats Bucs
(Pittsburgh, PA) -- Geovany Soto's three-run double highlighted a seven-run eighth inning as the Cubs beat the Pirates 14-9 in Pittsburgh. Soto finished 3-for-5 with a home run and seven RBI for Chicago, which has won four straight to remain five up on Milwaukee in the NL Central.

(St. Louis, MO) -- The Milwaukee Brewers hammered out 16 hits and Ben Sheets pitched in and out of trouble as the Brewers beat the Cardinals 12-0 last night in the first of a two game series at Busch Stadium. It was the Redbirds' seventh straight loss to Milwaukee. The loss dropped the Birds four-and-a-half games behind the Brewers in the race for the NL wild card. Milwaukee has won five in a row. The final regular season game between the two teams is tonight in St. Louis.
>>White Sox Win
(Baltimore, MD) -- White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd fired solid eight innings and Orlando Cabrera had four hits and three RBI to lead the White Sox past the Baltimore Orioles 8-3 last night at Camden Yards. With the win the Sox climb 20 games above five-hundred to 76-and-56 and continue to lead the Minnesota Twins for the top spot in the AL Central Division standings. The series will end with action again tonight in Baltimore.
>>HR Replay To Start Tomorrow In MLB
(New York, NY) -- Disputed home calls will be up for review in Major League Baseball starting tomorrow. MLB announced yesterday that it will implement instant replay on Thursday to decide if home runs cleared the fence, were fair or foul, or to determine whether there was interference.
>>Federer, Williams Sisters Advance At U.S. Open
(Flushing Meadows, NY) -- Four-time defending champ Roger Federer beat Maximo Gonzalez in straight sets in his first-round match at the U.S. Open Tuesday. The Williams sisters also won, as Serena beat Kateryna Bondarenko 6-1, 6-4, and Venus beat Samantha Stosur 6-2, 6-3.
>>LPGA To Require Members To Learn English
(Undated) -- The LPGA plans to require its members to learn to speak English, accoring to Golfweek. The new requirement was recently revealed to the Tour's increasing South Korean membership in a mandatory meeting. Members that don't comply will be subject to suspension.
>>Former Giant Strahan To Stay Retired
(East Rutherford, NJ) -- Michael Strahan has apparently turned down an offer to return to the injury-plagued New York Giants. FoxSports.com reports the recently-retired defensive lineman has decided to stay retired and begin his new career as an NFL studio analyst for FOX Sports.
>>Former Blazer Kevin Duckworth Dies At 44
(Portland, OR) -- Former Portland Trail Blazers center Kevin Duckworth was found dead Monday night at the age of 44. The seven-footer was in Oregon to conduct a basketball clinic. Duckworth was a two-time All-Star who spent the majority of his 11 NBA seasons in Portland.
